Cummins X10 Euro VI at Busworld
Cummins unveiled new coach-optimised X10 at Busworld 2025 together with a New ProTec Independent Front Suspension

Cummins is displaying X10 Euro VI engine at Busworld 2025. The ten litre Diesel engine is fully optimized for inter-urban bus and coach applications and tests are already showing a six to eight per cent improvement in fuel economy, compared to current engines in its class.
Cummins HELM platform for buses? It means also X10 engine
The Cummins X10 6-cylinder engine has been designed in response to rising customer demand for high power-to-weight ratio products at Euro VI. With power ratings from 265-338 kW (355-454 hp) and torque range of 1800-2200 Nm, the X10 is around 150kgs lighter than comparable engines.
Based on Cummins’ new, global 10-litre HELM platform, the X10 offers high power density to allow for improved climbing performance and down-speeding ability. It has lower noise and vibrations for enhanced sociability and longer oil change intervals, optimising total cost of ownership. Cummins’ XPI fuel system is also featured, with 1800 bar pressure.

Felipe Rocha, General Manager – On-Highway, Europe:
“The X10 Euro VI has been dually designed to provide our inter-urban bus and coach customers with a power dense, high performance engine as well as a straightforward step toward Euro 7. As OEMs look to update their current vehicle designs, the integration of an X10 Euro VI now makes for a simpler step to X10 Euro 7 in the future. HELM platform commonality ensures the move from current to next-generation engine technology is straightforward, with like-for-like integration points and a similar aftertreatment system across both Euro VI and Euro 7.”

The new single overhead camshaft design and lightweight, modular aftertreatment system enables Euro VI compliance without EGR. In addition, wastegate turbocharging ducts and impeller blade profiles are optimised for efficiency, supporting the engine’s high fuel economy and torque response.
The X10 is a new addition to Cummins’ Euro VI line up, which now spans 2.8-litres to 10-litres. X10 Euro VI will be available to vehicle manufacturers from mid-2026.
ProTec Independent Front Suspension
ProTec Independent Front Suspension (IFS) system, specifically designed for buses and coaches. Features such as the high-performance dampers, air springs and anti-roll bars have been optimised for performance and efficiency in premium coaches and city buses.
Compared to traditional bus axles, the IFS delivers improved ride quality, with each wheel moving independently. Road undulations are managed much more smoothly across the entire front axle. Reduced vibration and lower noise mean long journeys are more comfortable, with less intrusion into the cabin.
Stability around corners is better, with the independent movement reducing body roll and helping keep the bus more level. All working to deliver a premium feel to the journey for passengers.
Operationally, improved steering geometry delivers more accurate response and stability for safe and confident handling, especially in tight city streets. The Cummins’ IFS has the best-In-class steering angle, up to 60°.
