FPT Industrial celebrates Iveco 50 years at Arbon
The FPT Industrial R&D center in Arbon, which transitioned from Saurer to Iveco around 1990, recently celebrated Iveco's 50th anniversary

It’s a time for change and celebration at FPT Industrial. After celebrating Iveco’s 50th anniversary in Turin, the brand replicated the event at its research and development center in Arbon, on Lake Constance, Switzerland.
Family & Friends Day at the FPT facility in Arbon
The occasion was a FPT Industrial Family & Friends Day dedicated to Arbon employees, local institutional representatives, and stakeholders. Among the topics discussed were the importance of funded projects and collaborations in accelerating and scaling innovation, the impact of digital mobility and artificial intelligence, and the development of zero-emission propulsion and alternative fuel solutions, both for today and for the future.
Additionally, a panel focused on the role of “Swiss innovation” and opportunities for cross-border collaboration and attracting talent. The day concluded with laboratory tours and a networking session, offering participants new opportunities for discovery, sharing, and dialogue.
For on-road, off-road, marine and racing applications
The location serves as the hub for advanced research and engineering activities on internal combustion engines and the ePowertrain range, developing products for on-road, off-road, marine and racing applications.
The center’s main areas of research include alternative fuels and zero-emission solutions, as well as ATS technologies and hydrogen—both in its combustion application and in fuel cells.
The center features dedicated laboratories, test benches, and advanced assembly areas. The high technological value of these facilities has also been developed with a strong focus on sustainability: the dynamometer test benches capture and convert otherwise wasted energy into electricity, while waste heat is recovered and reused for heating spaces, public swimming pools, and for temperature control in industrial cells.
