John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) distributor Rama Motori in Reggio Emilia, Italy, has expanded its activities into the Balkan region, where it will provide customers fast delivery of complete John Deere marine and industrial engine packages and spare parts, as well as customized application support. Effective immediately, Rama and previous JDPS distributor for Croatia, GM Turbo, will collaborate to serve customers in Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia, Albania, and Bosnia.

As a long-time John Deere engine distributor for marine and industrial engines, Rama brings 30+ years’ experience of John Deere technologies, a large dealer network in Italy, and a high level of customization to its portfolio. GM Turbo will strengthen Rama’s network with a strong local presence and expertise. GM Turbo has two roles in the new partnership with Rama: dealer and agent.

Rama and John Deere: keeping close to customers

Both companies speak the same (technical) language, and uphold the John Deere promise to be close to their customers, in service support as well as product development. “Growing our network of dealers in the region is a priority,” said Paolo Coccolini, Managing Director of Rama. “We are currently visiting GM Turbo’s dealers, to understand the diverse market needs. The different countries share a price conscious approach. So that we can offer them a complete and competitively priced package, we are looking into additional suppliers of transmissions and gearboxes. And, we will attend three major marine shows in Croatia this year.

By joining forces, Rama and GM Turbo deliver a holistic offering for customers in Italy and the Balkans. Rama provides complete power packages that include a John Deere engine, Twin Disc transmission, ZF gearbox, and all cooling accessories. With its new in-house assembly and customization of John Deere engines, Rama now controls the entire process from sourcing components to final delivery of a customized engine. This enables consistent quality, a higher level of design flexibility, and on-time delivery.

Trials and training

Rama has also designed a sea-trial kit that ensures a smooth commissioning of engines. “With our kit, all our dealers can carry out the John Deere-approved commissioning process, from sea trials to final testing, approval, and warranty,” commented Alan Ferrari, Marine Sales Manager for Rama. “GM Turbo and local dealers will also receive these kits and commissioning training.”

Rama’s state-of-the-art dealer training program includes a virtual training room that enables all dealers and customers can get the most out of the engines and enjoy a long engine life. Rama’s top trainer Davide Giuliani has been qualified by John Deere to train distributors and dealers, so they can provide the best possible service to customers.
