G Smyth Boats and FPT. The catamaran is an application that lends itself well to the characteristics of the marinized NEF series. FPT for the G Smyth Boats catamarans
Breakwater Marine, one of the official FPT Distributor in UK, supported the commissioning and sea trials of one of G Smyth Boats’ new vessels. Designed as a catamaran, the boat is powered by two FPT N40 250 E engines, delivering the performance and efficiency required for commercial marine operations.
FPT’s marine lineup features 4-cylinder engines with a unit displacement of approximately 1 liter (N40) alongside those with 1.1-liter cylinders (N45). G Smyth Boats has relied on the N40 250 E. As per consolidated Turin tradition, injection for all NEF engines is handled by common rail, under the supervision of electronic systems.
The performance range of the entire NEF family spans from 74 to 419 kW. The professional application range, from 63 to 390 kW, is also available in mechanical and Keel Cooling versions. Other features that FPT claims as decisive in the choice of its four-cylinder engines are light weight and compact design – together with low noise and low vibration. These engines suit cruisers and yachts up to 18 meters (58 feet). Returning to the N40 (BxS 102×120 mm), at 2,800 rpm it is capable of delivering 184 kilowatts for yachts and pleasure applications.

The N40 “pro” model, for fisher boats, provide up to 169 kW at the same speed of the leisure applications.
