Vanguard is leading the energy transition in the construction sector with its innovative electric power solutions. These solutions are specifically designed to meet the requirements of modern construction machinery.

Vanguard batteries for construction machinery

Vanguard portfolio offers commercial battery packs and chargers. Vanguard’s commercial fixed battery packs represent a good solution for electrification. They offer reliability and safety to those who want to develop reliable battery-powered systems, designed for easy integration, and guarantee performance and uninterrupted durability.

The SI series of interchangeable batteries is designed to offer maximum flexibility. All this together with zero maintenance, zero noise, and zero emissions at the point of use.

An example of a concrete application: controlled demolition

If there is a sector where electrification began a long time ago, it is certainly controlled demolition. Vanguard is present with its batteries in the range of ARE (Advanced Robotic Engineering) robots. The Polish player uses Vanguard 48V 1.5kWh* swappable and 48V 3.5kWh* fixed battery packs for its mobile industrial demolition robots. To date, the ARE range consists of three models: ARE 1.0, ARE 2.0, and ARE 3.0.

ARE 3.0

The large-scale ARE 3.0 model is powered by the Vanguard 48V 3.5kWh* fixed battery pack (Fi3.5). This solution allows the demolition robot to operate on-site for up to 30 minutes. In contrast, the smaller ARE 1.0 and 2.0 models use a 48V 1.5kWh* swappable battery pack (Si1.5). In fact, a depleted Si1.5 battery can be easily replaced with a fully charged one, while another can be put on charge in the meantime.

Practical and reliable solutions

It is therefore possible to move with peace of mind between different work positions, across different floors, and on stairs without the issue of a power cable. This flexibility is particularly advantageous when the robot is used for various tasks that require continuous movement across different operational fronts—a common situation in selective demolition sites.

Although the actual demolition process operates via a 400V AC cable, ARE robots stand out today as the only machines on the market that allow the robot to be operated while simultaneously charging the integrated Vanguard™ battery pack.

Krzysztof Jakubowski, CEO of Advanced Robotic Engineering (ARE), emphasizes: “We have calculated that in a typical eight-hour workday, robot operators can save at least one hour using this ARE/Vanguard hybrid system compared to robots operated only by cables. This innovation demonstrates how it will revolutionize demolition efficiency in the future.

In fact, lithium-ion battery packs offer reliable, scalable, safe, and long-lasting performance in a wide variety of applications. These batteries are designed to withstand extreme conditions such as dust and water. Vanguard solutions include battery packs, chargers, motors, and battery controllers—components that are all perfectly compatible with different brands and applications to improve efficiency.

Talking about TCO: A low cost of ownership

One of the fundamental advantages of electrified drive is undoubtedly the low cost of ownership. The Total Cost of Ownership decreases significantly thanks to some key elements that characterize electric motors:

  • Lower maintenance: this technology requires less maintenance over time. Vanguard solutions are specifically designed for long-lasting durability and offer more advantageous maintenance intervals.
  • Increased uptime: reliable power translates into more operational time and less time dedicated to repairs. The batteries optimize this fundamental aspect, and the Briggs & Stratton Group has developed ideal solutions to further reduce operating costs.
  • Application-ready solutions: perfect integration with the machinery, thanks to optimized design, increases efficiency and end-user satisfaction.
