Carraro, the history and vision of the Campodarsego hub – Ep.3
We visited the Padua area to tell the story and strategic role of the Carraro plant in Campodarsego, the headquarters and beating heart of the group, which specializes in axles and transmissions for agricultural and construction machinery. Here is the video
Through interviews with management, the company’s century-long evolution is traced: founded in 1932 by Giovanni Carraro as an agricultural machinery manufacturer, it transformed in the 1970s under Mario Carraro into the components sector, eventually evolving with the third family generation toward a global presence centered on gears and drive components. Significant emphasis was placed on the value of human resources, highlighting individual stories of cultural and generational integration within the production lines.
The focus then shifts to Campodarsego’s Research and Development (R&D) hub, defined as the strategic innovation center for all the group’s global facilities. Engineer David Zampiva explains how the department handles nearly 500 parallel projects internationally, relying on rigorous quality testing (over 80,000 hours of testing per year) and a flexible structure divided among product development, field applications, and industrial design.
In effect, Carraro has created a true “mechanical tailoring” service, demonstrating once again its ability to adapt custom solutions to specific customer needs and to extend its engineering expertise beyond traditional sectors.
