Yacht Bridge Design According to Rolls-Royce Vision

Rolls-Royce Power Systems unveils the world premiere of the new mtu NautIQ Bridge “Point Break” concept at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026. Designed for the next generation of semi-custom yachts of around 50 metres, Point Break represents an innovative approach to bridge design. Combining advanced digital technologies with a new architectural concept, it redefines the bridge as both a highly efficient command centre and an integral part of the yacht’s living environment.

Point Break addresses a significant design challenge for yacht designers and shipyards: giving back valuable onboard space to owners and guests without compromising the captain’s working environment or the highest standards of safety and functionality.

The result is a dual-purpose bridge concept that seamlessly integrates the wheelhouse into the yacht’s living environment whenever navigation is not underway, while remaining fully operational and immediately available when required.

At the heart of the concept is a new bridge architecture featuring a next-generation Human Machine Interface (HMI) designed to make navigation more intuitive, efficient and user-friendly. A distinctive vertical display arrangement optimises space utilisation and enhances situational awareness, while an advanced Head-Up Display projects essential navigation information directly into the captain’s field of view.

Point Break has been designed as a dynamic and adaptable space. When navigation is not taking place, the displays retract, creating an open space that can be used for alternative onboard purposes that allows one of the yacht’s most valuable spaces to become part of the owner’s lifestyle experience.

The concept also anticipates the next generation of digital onboard solutions through the integration of future AI-supported functionalities for onboard documentation management and full compatibility with mtu NautIQ Foresight, Rolls-Royce’s advanced platform for predictive engine and systems health management. Together, these technologies enhance operational awareness, simplify maintenance planning and supports captains and crews in daily operation and maintenance planning.
