The SDF Group has once again turned the spotlight on the new Deutz-Fahr 5 DF/DS/DV TTV with Stage V engines, the specialists dedicated to vineyards and orchards, but with possible applications also in the fields of landscaping and municipal processing. Theese vehicles try to combine, in the intentions of the manufacturer, high performance with safety and comfort on board of the highest level, in the wake of that much-needed productivity sought by farms.

Deutz-Fahr 5 and the FARMotion propulsion systems

The soul of the Deutz-Fahr 5 are the compact FARMotion 35 and 45 with 3- and 4-cylinder engines in Stage V version, even more powerful, and at the same time economical in consumption compared to previous models, thanks to a series of new technologies such as the Common Rail injection up to 2000 bar, 7-hole injectors, electronically controlled viscous fan, PowerCore air filter and OverBoost.

The compactness of the Deutz-Fahr 5 exhaust gas after-treatment system also made it possible to maintain the same external layout as the previous Stage IIIB versions, with excellent external visibility from the driver’s seat. The new generation models also deliver even more torque and power at any rpm than their predecessors, with the top-of-the-range model reaching an impressive maximum power of 126 hp with OverBoost active.

The role of the TTV transmission

The TTV transmission of the Deutz-Fahr 5 perfectly combines an exceptional fluidity of operation with an always efficient power transfer to the ground, without any compromise in terms of reliability and efficiency. The maximum road speed of 40 kph is obtained at a rotation speed of only 1570 rpm, while the MaxCom console allows the operator to always and practically control all the machine functions.

Functionality, versatility and top-level performance are also guaranteed for the PTO. The interchangeable PTO shaft, the automatic activation / deactivation control in relation to the position of the lift and the modulated electro-hydraulic engagement are standard. On these tractors, the 540 rpm, 540ECO and 1000 rpm modes are standard and on request it is possible to have the synchronized PTO with dedicated shaft with removable tang and the front PTO at 1000 rpm.

The new 5DF/DS/DV TTV Stage V models are optimally equipped with regard to axles and brakes. The optional hydropneumatic front suspension with active control and independent wheels further improves productivity and safety. The Anti-dive function, which counteracts the sudden lowering of the front suspension when braking, and Anti-roll, which automatically adjusts the stiffness of the shock absorbers when cornering to improve stability and grip, also contribute to the unparalleled comfort and stability of this system.

Also standard, disc brakes are installed on all 4 wheels, the PowerBrake and the function of engaging the front wheel drive and the integral locking of the electro-hydraulic type differentials. The powerful and widely configurable hydraulic system comes standard with an 84 l/min pump (on 5DF models), while a 100 l/min Load Sensing pump is available on request (standard on 5DS/DV models). This solution, capable of delivering 70 l/min at just 1350 rpm of the engine, allows efficient use of the tractor at low speeds even with the most demanding hydraulic equipment. The 5 DF TTV offers a rear lift capacity of 3800 kg, while on the narrower models, 5 DS TTV and 5 DV TTV, the capacity is 2600 kg. The front linkage (optional) has a capacity of 1500 kg.

FPT Industrial: let’s go, XC13

The XC13 surely sounds agnostic in FPT Industrial’s unofficial nomenclature; it comes, indeed, with a tripartite certification: Euro 6E (winking an eye at the upcoming Euro 7), methane gas and also biofuel, with a link to hydrogen. Andrea Abbà, FPT’s product marketing manager, told us about dialogui...
