According to PowerGen Consulting, Diesel Generator Market increased by 23% in Q1 2026
What Powergen Consulting reports in a LinkedIn post confirms what we keep repeating like a mantra: AI drives energy demand. Power generation continues to grow. The diesel generator market grew by 23% compared to Q1 2026.
Generator Market is Concentrated in the 2001+ kVA
Growth remains heavily concentrated in the 2001+ kVA segment, driven by large-scale data center developments
From a geographic perspective, all regions recorded growth; however, Asia and the Americas continue to act as the primary growth engines.
Regional Highlights
EUROPE. Growth across most major European markets, including Spain and Germany, with particularly strong growth in Ukraine.
AFRICA: The African market recorded 15% growth. Significant deliveries to Congo DR and Egypt were offset by slower demand in Nigeria and South Africa.
MIDDLE EAST. Demand declined significantly across all countries, driven by the regional conflict and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
ASIA-PACIFIC. Asia continues to show strong momentum:
- Thailand, Malaysia and Australia led growth, fueled by large-scale data center projects;
- China remains exceptionally strong, particularly in data center-related demand.
NORTH AMERICA: very strong growth in USA thanks to the AI data center projects, as well as in Canada;
LATIN AMERICA: market declined in Q1 2026 in most territories including Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Ecuador.
C&I Gas Generator Market increased by 25% in Q1 2026
The global C&I gas generator market grew significantly in Q1 2026, also driven primarily by the 2,001+ kVA segment. This growth was fueled by the rapid expansion of on-site power generation projects for data centers, particularly in the United States.
The Western European market also recorded strong growth (+19%), supported by major projects in the Netherlands and the UK.
The outlook for the large gas power generation market remains highly positive, with a strong pipeline of data center projects expected to drive continued demand, particularly in North America.
