DEUTZ and HDC Solutions Partnership
Deutz and HDC: Power generators and storage systems from Deutz meet intelligent software from HDC Solution
Deutz and HDC Solutions signed a cooperation agreement at Eurosatory, in Paris. HDC Solutions, based in Ingolstadt, specializes in resilient energy and mobility systems for defense/military, critical infrastructures (KRITIS), and the public sector. The aim of the partnership is to jointly develop highly resilient energy solutions and self-sufficient emergency power systems for critical infrastructures and military applications in Germany and abroad.
The Official Statements from Cologne and Ingolstadt
“Modern threat scenarios and increasing electrification today require more than simple backup power solutions. What is needed are intelligent systems that can control, prioritize, and safeguard complex energy flows in an emergency,” explains Sebastian Schulte, CEO of Deutz.
“This is precisely where we come in: with our solutions, we will make a significant contribution to continuous energy supply – the foundation of comprehensive national defense capability – and systematically meet the rapidly growing demand for such systems.”
Marco Herre (right, on the photo), CEO of the Deutz Business Unit Defense, adds: “In HDC Solutions, we have found a partner that complements our high-performance hardware with highly intelligent software. This enables us to offer our customers integrated complete systems from a single source and ensure continued energy supply for critical infrastructure, federal properties, or military camps in the event of defense.”
The partnership is the next logical step for Deutz in achieving its stated revenue target of at least 300 million euros in the defense sector by 2030.
Philipp Czasch (left), CEO and founder of HDC Solutions, on the cooperation: “The partnership with an established company in the defense sector is an enormous step forward for us as a young company. We will benefit from Deutz’s experience and production know-how and will in future be able not only to market our software as a product and service, but also to supply the appropriate hardware. It is important for us, in addition to product sales, to ensure the corresponding support and the necessary training of operating personnel. Because one thing is clear: nothing works without energy. That is why we must continue to strengthen the foundation of our comprehensive national defense capability. I am more than convinced that together with DEUTZ we will succeed in this.”
Energy Solutions and Software
Deutz is contributing a broad portfolio of power generators and storage systems as well as system and integration expertise on the hardware side to the cooperation. HDC Solutions provides software that dynamically prioritizes energy flows in mobile and stationary systems and ensures the continuity of critical operations and consumers at any time. As a spin-off of the Bundeswehr University Munich, HDC Solutions has a high level of military and operational experience on all continents of the world.
GridCube
An initial key component of the partnership between Deutz and HDC Solutions is the GridCube, which was jointly developed in cooperation with the Institute of Thermodynamics and Sustainable Propulsion Systems (ITNA) at Graz University of Technology. It connects and controls any power sources and storage systems with different consumers in a networked and decentralized architecture, without interruption. The public power grid can also be integrated as an energy source. GridCube is characterized by its modularity and intelligent control for prioritizing loads and consumers.
