The publishing house is the same, Vado e Torno Edizioni; the awards and applications differ, but the philosophy remains unchanged. After presenting the Sustainable Bus Awards at BusWorld in Brussels, the Sustainable Truck of the Year 2026 awards have now been announced.

Three Categories of Sustainable Trucks: Tractor, e-Truck, Van

The Sustainable Truck of the Year (STY) 2026, the awards that for the tenth year in a row highlights the most advanced industrial and commercial vehicles in terms of sustainability, announces the winners of the three categories for the 2026 edition: Tractor, e-Truck and Van.

The decisions, taken by the jury made of specialized journalists, reflect a clear vision: sustainability is not a unique technology, but rather a set of concrete, already operational solutions capable of improving transport efficiency.

The Sustainable Truck of the Year 2026 awards ceremony took place on the evening of January 29. The event was broadcast on the web and digital channels of Vado e Torno and Sustainable Truck & Van.

The vehicles awarded were: IVECO S-Way LNG in the Tractor category, Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 in the e-Truck category—introduced last year—and MAN TGE Next Level in the Van category.

Accepting the awards were Massimiliano Perri, General Manager IVECO Italy Market, Domenico Andreoli Head of Marketing & PR Daimler Truck Italia, and Matteo De Marchi, Head of Van MAN Truck & Bus Italia.

As shown by the recent revision of the European decarbonisation roadmap, the road transport scenario is more dynamic than ever,” said Fabio Zammaretti, Chairman of the Sustainable Truck of the Year Awards. “For this reason as well, it is important to reiterate that the analysis and evaluation of vehicle sustainability are based on several parameters and do not exclude certain technologies in favour of others.”

More than ever, road transport must explore all the opportunities offered by technological evolution—not only to reduce its environmental footprint, but also to rely on vehicles that are more connected and, above all, safer,” added Fabrizio Dalle Nogare, Head of the STY Jury. “On the tenth anniversary of the Sustainable Truck of the Year Awards, rewarding three vehicles powered by three different types of powertrain is a clear representation of the current market dynamics, as well as of the goals the jury has been pursuing since the foundation of the STY Awards.”

The Sustainable Truck of the Year Awards jury is made by the editorial committees of Vado e Torno and Sustainable Truck&Van.

The voting process takes into consideration 40 technical parameters, grouped into six macro-areas: engine, transmission, safety, comfort, connectivity, and sustainability.

Tractor: IVECO S-Way LNG

Sustainable Truck 2026

With the IVECO S-Way LNG, the Tractor category rewards a solution that demonstrates how energy transition can be immediately achievable without operational compromises.

Equipped with the 500 hp XCursor 13 engine, Alternative Engine Award 2025, the LNG-powered road tractor—fully compatible with biomethane—delivers performance equivalent to diesel versions, while ensuring lower environmental impact and improved drivetrain efficiency.

The latest updates  have also significantly raised levels of safety, comfort and ergonomics, confirming the IVECO S-Way LNG as a mature, reliable, and sustainable solution fully suited to long-haul heavy-duty transport.

With this award, STY 2026 recognizes the value of a concrete and immediately available form of sustainability, capable of meeting the actual requirements of transport operators.

e-Truck: Mercedes-Benz eActros 600

The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 wins the STY 2026 e-Truck category thanks to a combination of technology, efficiency, and industrial vision that sets a new benchmark in the full-electric heavy-duty segment.

At the heart of the eActros 600 is the e-Axle, an electrified axle engineered and developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, integrating two electric motors and a four-speed transmission to maximize performance and energy efficiency.

A distinctive feature of the Star’s flagship truck is the ProCabin, an elegant, futuristic cab whose wind-shaped lines significantly reduce aerodynamic drag, delivering substantial benefits in terms of aerodynamics and energy savings.

Sustainable Truck 2026

With this recognition, STY 2026 rewards a vehicle that proves full-electric technology can fully meet the demands of long-haul freight transport, even in the heaviest weight classes.

Van: MAN TGE Next Level

In the Van category, the STY 2026 award goes to the MAN TGE Next Level, a light commercial vehicle that redefines the concept of sustainability through a systemic and holistic approach.

The TGE Next Level stands out for its significant improvements in comfort, ergonomics, functionality and safety. All factors that directly enhance operational efficiency, vehicle performance and the quality of work for professionals.

Sustainable Truck 2026

Particularly noteworthy is the adoption of latest-generation ADAS, which play a concrete role in reducing accident risk while improving comfort, driver and passenger wellbeing, and overall vehicle performance.
