The news was spread by CNH Industrial. The Nikola TRE e-truck will be produced at the Iveco plant in Ulm, Germany. There, the first trucks produced will be the BEV (Battery electric vehicle) heavy commercial vehicles, the first step towards the FCEV (Fuel-cell electric vehicles) hydrogen-powered models. CNH has allocated 40 million euro for the production facility, which will be used to assemble the vehicle. But when will it start? According to CNH’s statement, not before the first quarter of 2021, with initial deliveries expected from the same year. The start of the testing phase is expected in mid-2020, with the first prototypes on display next September at the IAA 2020 commercial vehicle fair in Hanover, Germany.

An accurate choice

The choice of the Ulm plant has not been taken randomly. The German Government has recently presented the National Hydrogen Strategy in which 2 billion euro have been allocated to finance the sustainable molecule innovation program, including the development of the necessary infrastructure.
